Passive Income

first eventFire Your Boss!

Yes we mean it when we say fire your boss, we just don’t mean it right away!

The internet has provided us and countless others with what our parents could’ve only dreamed of back in their time, if at all; Freedom from a boss.

If you came here looking for ways to make money online, then you’re at the right place. However note that making money online isn’t easy, and it requires you to learn a new set of skills.

Our Story

first camping trip

Just like many of you, I started many new jobs that I enjoyed at first, however after years of doing the same thing, I got burnt out.

I used to wait tables for a living in the final years as an employee, and years before that I ran a restaurant that paid me very well. The year I started running the restaurant was 1999, and I really enjoyed what I did for years and years. However after 5 years, I became disenchanted and depressed, and I wanted a way out.

So I turned in my 2 week noticed for the 3rd time, and decided to move to a different state and start over.

After trying many different jobs at my new state, I realized that most jobs, if not all, are the same and became a routine really fast, so in some ways I tried convincing myself that that’s how life works and just accept it.

Then in 2010 I met a guy that used to work on his laptop for hours non-stop. He seemed happy and friendly, so I started inquiring about what he did for a living.

He mentioned he was a web designer, and that sounded interesting.

I mentioned I wished I could build a website I had in mind, something like craigslist but focused on businesses as well. He said lets do it, but that was it, at least for a whole year.

Around 2011, I had a better idea of the website I wanted. I had created mock ups using power point, and I had an idea of the workflow, however I had just had a baby in May 2011, and it was really hard finding both the time and money to do anything.

In the winter of 2011, I decided to find people to invest in my idea, and what better partners than my amazing brothers.

We had planned a camping trip in the coming days, so I decided to sell my idea there, and boom! We started planning costs, roles, how we’d split earnings (lmao), etc.

We hired the guy I met while waiting tables, and he did an amazing job delivering the website I had dreamed of! By then it was February 2012.

The task and cost of building a successful website was much bigger than I had imagine, and at the end of two years we killed the project due to the lack of traction.

This is our first promo video!

What a sad story right?

Not really! In the process of running our first website, I was introduced to a local developer that was willing to teach me how to make minor website changes, and to make a long story short, learning was the best decision I could’ve ever made!!

To this day I’m amazed at the number of opportunities we have and miss everyday because we’re working on someone else’s dream, and my goal is to teach you how to take advantage of some of them, and in the process firing your boss for good.

Our Mission

The honest-to-God reason I created this website is because I want to generate even MORE passive income than I already do, but also to help others discover new opportunities of making money online just like I did.

So why do I say MORE passive income? Simple, because generating passive income is something I’ve been doing since 2012!

Passive income isn’t something most of us are familiar with, and maybe some have never even heard of, yet we generate this type of income for others every single day!

How you may ask.

By swiping that credit card, by paying rent, by subscribing to Nextflix, and the list goes on and on!

We grew up being told that in order to live well, we needed to get a job that paid well and work really hard at it for decades. We heard these things from our friends, our family, and even the school system! Even though this is well-intentioned advise, the fact is that most people fail to realize that there are easier ways for earning money than your regular 9-5 job, and it’s called passive income.

Our Definition of Passive Income

In simple terms, passive income means that you don’t trade time for money.

Think about it. Everyone of us has 24 hours per day, and we can only work for a limited number of these hours each day. So if you want to make a lot of money and “live well”, you’ll have to trade hours for money. The more money you want to make, then more hours you have to trade, and the less likely to have the chance to live well.

But there’s a better way!

Your own worst enemy

There may be a couple things stopping you from generating passive income; Contentedness & self-doubt.

If you think to yourself that you have a good job and you don’t have time to learn this, you may have just become a victim of yourself.

The enemy of “the best” is not “the worst.” The enemy of “the best” is “just fine. – Dave Ramsey

I believe the following illustration is a great representation of how we find ourselves living content with our 9-5 job:

If you put a frog in boiling water, it’ll jump straight out. If you put it in cold water and gradually bring it to the boil, it’ll sit right there until it dies. Scotland has been sitting in England’s gradually boiling water for so long that many people are used to it.

As Dave Ramsey would put it, The frog is lured to his death by gradual change. We can lose our health, our fitness, and our wealth gradually, one day at a time.

There are people who say “oh, I’d never learn to do this” even when they haven’t even tried.

Courage is not the absence of fear, but rather the assessment that something else is more important than fear. – Franklin D. Roosevelt

The truth is that we all face these and many other internal demons, it just comes down how we face them.

The Bridge

I can humbly say that making the decision to start this journey wasn’t hard for me. One is because of my upbringing, and two because I believe some people are born to lead, and I’m one of them.

But this is not how everyone is born and raised, so I realize that some people will find it difficult to take the first step into entrepreneurship, and my goal is to help you take little steps, and in a way create a bridge between what you have, and what you can have.

I’ve personally watched someone go from being a very doubtful person to being a risk taker, and I believe this is something anyone can develop even if you weren’t born to lead.

I hope you can learn something from my experience, and I hope you can reach your independence and become your own boss! Cheers!
